New Book Alert: The Necklace

A fascinating new book hits shelves next week. We haven't read it yet, but can't wait to get our hands on. It's The Necklace: Thirteen Women and the Experiment That Transformed Their Lives by Cheryl Jarvis. The novel relays the story of thirteen women who all chip in to buy an expensive diamond necklace and the subsequent lessons each learns about materialism and personally growth. The New York Times published a great review of the novel today. This is the paragraph in the review that made us want to read more:
It was initially decided that each would have Jewelia for a month. Making love at least once while wearing the diamonds was mandatory. So much for the basics: now came creativity. Various Jewelia wearers went skydiving, karaoke singing, shooting, motorcycle riding. One of them insisted on wearing the necklace to a gynecological exam. The book includes photographic records of all of the above.According to the New York Times there will soon be a movie based on the book. Just judging from the book's plot that's not surprising.
